Overview

  • Condition: Overall the set is in very good condition, but has been used and shows some signs wear and repair.
    • The locomotive has a repaired crack on the left side of the boiler by the front door (see close-up photo).
    • The locomotive is made with plastic rods to improve flexibility with the articulated construction - some of these rods are suffering from flaking where the silver paint is rubbing off (see photos).
    • The rear truck of the locomotive appears to be missing a retaining screw that holds it in place around the central spindle - however, once placed on the track with the rod through the hole, it runs perfectly well and doesn't move out of place; care is just required when lifting the engine.
    • The coaches have some small marks/scuffs/nicks from use (see photos).
  • Operational Status: Tested and runs well in both directions.  Will run on DC or AC supplies, but needs quite a powerful controller.  Features working directional lights, and all coaches have interior lights, with the observation car also having side and tail lights.  The engine has a battery that is charged during use to provide sound and functions when track power is turned off.  Tender houses a 'Proto-Sound 2.0' sound system that is an analogue system that plays sounds in synchronisation with the model's movement - sounds are not DCC controllable.  Also features a smoke generator with fan to synchronise smoke to 'chuffs'.  The smoke generator is currently switched off but has been tested and works - control switch is behind the smokebox door.  Supplied with printed copy of the instructions manual to help with operation.
