Rapido Trains Class 44

Rapido Trains UK’s model of the Class 44 diesel locomotive represents one of the earliest British Railways mainline diesels, often referred to as the "Peaks" due to their naming after mountain ranges. Built in the 1950s by British Railways at Derby Works, only ten Class 44s were made, and they played a vital transitional role in early diesel traction history.

Rapido’s N gauge model captures the Class 44 with stunning accuracy and detail. It features:

  • All-new tooling, based on original works drawings and extensive research

  • Highly detailed body and underframe, including separately fitted components

  • 5-pole motor with twin flywheels for smooth and powerful performance

  • Next18 DCC socket and optional factory-fitted sound versions

  • Directional and cab lighting

  • A choice of authentic liveries including BR green (with or without small yellow warning panels) and BR blue

This model reflects Rapido’s commitment to prototypical fidelity and quality, making it a must-have for fans of early British diesel power.
